About Amitabha Buddha
Amitabha Buddha, also known as the Buddha of Infinite Light and Infinite Life, represents boundless light, lifespan, wisdom, and merit. He is the principal Buddha of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss and, together with Avalokiteshvara and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattvas, is known as the "Three Saints of the West." Amitabha Buddha is the supreme Buddha of light and the king of all Buddhas, and is the guardian Buddha for those born in the years of the dog and pig. His name carries the power of infinite light and lifespan, symbolizing the liberation from worldly troubles and guiding sentient beings towards the path of enlightenment. Devotees who pray to Amitabha Buddha are blessed with turning misfortune into good fortune, staying away from disasters, and experiencing a life of peace and harmony.
Legend
In the distant past, there was a king who, upon hearing the Dharma, renounced his throne to become a monk named Dharma Storehouse. He made 48 great vows before the Buddha of World Freedom, each centered on the salvation of sentient beings. He pledged to create a world free from suffering, filled only with ultimate bliss, where beings could practice and attain Buddhahood in peace. After countless eons of practice, Dharma Storehouse's vows were fulfilled, and he became Amitabha Buddha, with the Western Pure Land coming into existence. In this land, the ground is made of gold, trees are of seven treasures, and the water possesses eight excellent qualities. The beings here enjoy boundless lifespans, dignified appearances, and daily exposure to the Dharma. With his boundless compassion, Amitabha Buddha guides sentient beings from all directions to be reborn in the Pure Land, escaping the cycle of reincarnation and becoming a beacon of hope for countless Buddhists.
